Itinerary

Upon arrival into Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the Nairobi Wilson Airport to catch your internal flight to the Loisaba Airstrip. Upon arrival, you will transfer to the wonderful Sosian Ranch, game driving en-route. Sosian is a 24,000 acre private wildlife and cattle ranch in the heart of Laikipia. Over the past 10 years, Sosian has managed to find the perfect balance of cattle farming and wildlife conservation, to enable us to provide our guests with an unforgettable safari experience. In the afternoon, you have the chance to enjoy your first shared game drive, spanning the border of Laikipia and Kenya’s rugged northern frontier.

The next two days are spent exploring this wonderful privately-owned game reserve, enjoying walking, horse-riding, camel safaris, game-drives, night-drives, fishing, archery, tennis and swimming in the waterfalls behind the lodge. Guests are also encouraged to participate in ranch life, such as dipping cattle! Sosian is one of a unique group of ranches varying from 5,000 to 100,000 acres on the Laikipia plateau and covers 24,000 acres of very diverse ecosystems. Open grassy plains are home to plains game such as Beisa oryx, Grant's gazelle, ostrich and cheetah. Laikipia boasts a population of 80% of the rare Grevy's zebra and Jackson's hartebeest in its region. To the south of the ranch, the bush is thicker and full of acacia woodland which is home to several elephant herds (Laikipia ranking second in the highest elephant populations in Kenya), buffalo, reticulated giraffe, wild dog, lion and leopard.

This morning, there may be time for a final morning activity before you are transferred back to the Loisaba Airstrip, game driving en-route, in order to catch your internal flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred the short distance to the wonderfully located Topi House, which borders both the 23,000-acre Olare Orok Conservancy and the unrivaled eastern side of the Masai Mara National Game Reserve. Following your arrival at Topi House, you settle in and prepare for your first private game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Today is spent experiencing the magic of the Masai Mara Reserve with your private professional English speaking driver/guide and private 4x4 vehicle. A variety of game can be seen in this region with some huge herds of wildebeest and zebra passing through in migration season; this results in stable numbers of predators throughout the year so you should be in for some good game viewing! Huge hippos and large crocodiles can be found lazing around in the waters of the Mara River. Here, you can explore the wilderness and the rolling hills in the company of your personal Masai guide on your own terms. Cultural visits to the nearby Masai communities just outside the reserve, as well as bush breakfasts, bush picnics and sundowners with a view, can also be arranged as well as hot air balloon safaris (needs to be pre-booked in advance at an additional cost).

Overnight: Topi House

This morning, you enjoy another morning private game drive in the Mara National Reserve before enjoying lunch at Topi House. From here, you are transferred overland back to the airstrip, game-driving en-route, to catch your internal flight to Ukunda Airstrip. Upon your arrival, you are met and transferred by road to your beach resort. Here, you can sit back, relax and reminisce after your adventures.

Overnight: WaterLovers

You have two full days to relax and unwind after your Kenya safari on Diani’s 25km stretch of breathtakingly beautiful white sandy beach, framed by crystal waters and coconut palm groves. The coral reef is home to sea turtles, dolphins, and numerous tropical fish. There is also plenty to do whilst at Waterlovers Beach Resort. If you are feeling up to it, you can go kitesurfing, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, and fishing. The beach is bordered by lush green rainforest full of colorful birds and the rare breed of Colobus, an almost extinct black and white monkey, unique to this area of East Africa. The sprawling dimensions of the Shimba Hills natural reserve, a sanctuary for elephants, buffalos, antelopes and other wildlife, is located a little further inland and just a short drive from Diani.
