Itinerary

On reaching Manali in the morning or afternoon, transfer to hotel and check in. Our team will meet you after lunch and go through your expedition / trekking gear. It is important to ensure that everything is in place since this is a 13 day expedition and no risk can be taken. In case something is missing, we will try help you buy / rent the same in Manali. Evening time is free for shopping and visiting the local markets. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Drive up to Khanol from Manali where the trek starts. Trek along the Nala, cross it and ascend gradually through the forest for 2-3 hours, after which it gives way to the pastures of Chikka. The campsite is just next to the local temple and Jagatsukh Nala.

The trek from Chikka goes on the right bank of Jagatsukh Nala for 4-5 hours until we reach large green flat ground which is almost the size of around 4 to 5 big football grounds. We will camp at these flat-lands for the night and witness a blanket of stars above us in the clear night sky.

We will start the day’s trek for lake Chota Chandertal, which will take around 3-4 hours from Seri campsite. Walk along the Nala and cross it again. Start climbing up the rocky fields. After an hour of walking up along the ridge will brings us to Tenta (which is at the base of the glacier). Climb the steep slopes for another two hours to reach Chota Chandratal. Overnight campaign / tent stay at Chota Chandratal.

Acclimatization day at Chota Chandertal. Spend some time for acclimatization by walking around on snow and ice. We will also help you practice climbing techniques on snow and ice so that you are prepared for the remaining trek to the summit.

From now on, the expedition will be run in a semi-alpine manner. Our cook and helper will remain at the base camp. The rest of the team will proceed up to the mountain. All expedition members will be required to carry some of the common food, gear, etc. and assist with the camp activities. Climb up the gully to Dhuangan col. Leave the load we took at a suitable campsite and return to base camp for the night.

The entire team now moves to Campsite 1. Once we reach Campsite 1, the rest of the day can be used for further height gaining and acclimatization. Overnight campaign / tent stay at Campsite 1.

Today again we will do the load ferry to summit camp. Idea is to move the material to Summit campsite and come back to the Campsite 1.

We will leave very early in the morning in the hope to set up the camp at summit before lunch because we have to walk over the steep terrain again to reach summit camp. We’ll have dinner early in the evening and head straight to bed for some rest before the next day’s summit attempt.

We’ll leave camp in the middle of the night in order to take advantage of the hard snow. The route to summit is moderately angled mixed with snow and ice. If all goes well, we’ll arrive at the summit early in the morning. After a good photo session, we’ll head back down to Summit Camp 2. If the weather is bad we will follow the same itinerary next day.

We will relax and continue to enjoy the Mount Deo Tibba Summit and natural beauty that it has to offer

All the members (including crew and gear) will descend to Deo Tibba base campsite via Dhuangan Col. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba base campsite.

We will follow the same route. It’ll be a long walk back down! What we did in 3 days (trekking from Khanol -> Chikka -> Seri - Chota Chandratal), we will try doing the same distance but descent, in 1 day. Once we reach Khanol, we drive back to Manali. Overnight stay at Manali or one can take back bus / drive back to Delhi / Chandigarh
