Description

Located in Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, India, Kudremukh is a mountain range with lush green forests and overwhelming small streams.

Overview

Kudremukh is located about 20 kilometres from Kalasa. The name Kuduremukha literally means 'horse-faced in Kannada and refers to a particular picturesque view of a side of the mountain that resembles a horse's face. Earlier it was also called Samseparvata as that was the approach point. Kuduremukha is Karnataka's 2nd highest peak after Mullayanagiri. The nearest International Airport to visit Kudremukh is Mangalore International Airport which is located at a distance of 99 kilometres.

The southern and western sides of the mountain form the steep slope of the Western Ghats line, with the altitude varying from 100 m - 1892 m. The eastern, central, and northern parts of the park constitute a trail of rolling hills with a floor of natural grassland and shola forests. Because of the forest types and mainly evergreen vegetation that can be found here, Kudremukh receives an average annual rainfall of 7000 mm,
